Sea Salt - memories and essays

Faced with the decision, to remain a New England blueberry farmer or to take a chance on a life of adventure like his heroes Hans Hass and Jacques Cousteau, Stan Waterman chose the latter.

Sea by Stan Waterman
Faced with the decision, to remain a New England blueberry farmer or to take a chance on a life of adventure like his heroes Hans Hass and Jacques Cousteau, Stan Waterman chose the latter. He converted a fishing trawler into a charter dive boat and headed it toward the Bahamas. There, in the 1950's during those heady seminal years of underwater discovery that Stan first took a movie camera underwater. Thus began a life of globetrotting and underwater filmmaking that has entertained and enlightened audiences with novel wildlife images for half a century. Sea Salt is the handiwork of a born storyteller with a flair for language, imagery and insight. Liberally sprinkled with humour, verve and singular turns of phrase, his autobiography and selected writings deftly portray the joys and travails of a diving pioneer and legend. Hard cvr. 320 pgs. Colour and B&W. 15cm x 23cm.
