Japan cuts short whale hunt

Whalers head home amid calls to increase Antarctic protection. Japan announced its fleet of whaling vessels was heading home a month early after a deadly fire crippled its mother ship and sparked fears of a catastrophic oil spill. The February fire aboard the factory ship killed one crew member and left the vessel unable to sail under its own power for 10 days.
