SOUTH AFRICAN SCUBA DIVER LIVES UNDERWATER FOR TEN DAYS

A South African scuba diver has claimed a new world record, after living underwater in a steel tank for ten days. Tim Yarrow was fed through a tube and watched the skin on his hands shrivel in the 3 by 2.3 metre tank.

He spent 240 hours underwater on scuba apparatus in a controlled environment without surfacing. His record beats the previous record of 212 hours and 30 minutes, set in 1986 by Michael Stephens of Britain.

He was checked by a doctor on a daily basis and was fed a low fibre liquid diet through a tube.
